The Tolkien Forest

Photo - Tolkien ForestRhododendrons, Daphne and Magnolias as you have never seen them before paint the mountain rainforest in shades of red, white and pink. Rhododendrons reach 25 metres in height with long ribbons of moss, lichen and orchids hanging from the branches.

The beautiful scented Daphne are head height while colourful Primulas grow on the forest floor. Birds, Deer and Black Faced Languar Monkeys are often seen while the enormous snow capped peaks of the Dhaulagiris, Nilgiris and Annapurnas feature in the background. We spend 3–4 days in this beautiful forest.

Wildflowers, Yaks and Sacred Lakes

Langtang often called the 'Valley of the Flowers' is spectacular in both Autumn and late Spring (October and May). The 18 day tour includes 11 half days of walking for most age groups including active seniors. The trek includes some pristine river rainforest, waterfalls and wild life. Yaks graze peacefully in alpine meadows below the snow clad Langtang Himal and other high peaks and a spectacular aqua-blue icefall. Many different wildflowers carpet the valley and foothills in May and October.

The lodge accommodation is possibly the best in Nepal. The longer 23 day Langtang Tour Includes the above plus the beautiful sacred Gosainkunda glacial lakes surrounded by a carpet of wildflowers and much more. The optional Royal Chitwan National Park is available after this trek also. Highest altitude for 11 day trek is 3800 metres and 4610 metres for the 15 day trek.

Icefall, Waterfalls, Glaciers and High Peaks

Annapurna Sanctuary is often called the 'Jewel of the Himalayas'. The trek includes 12 walking days with lodge accommodation all the way. Run in October/November the trek takes us into the very heart of the mighty Annapurnas. Highlights include rainforest, waterfalls, a glacier, icefall and spectacular fluted snow clad peaks reaching 8000 metres high. Here sunset and sunrise can be breathtaking.

We visit thermal hotsprings on the return trip before a 2 day 2 night resort stay at Royal Chitwan National Park. This trek is suitable for fit or experienced walkers. Highest altitude 3,900 metres.

Glacial Lakes and Mt Everest

Photo - View of EverestA spectacular tour for its views of 4 of the 8,000 metre peaks including Mt Everest. With 5 beautiful glacial lakes at Gokyo, The Ngojumba Glacier and comfortable accommodation. One of our easier treks, Gokyo Lakes is available to all age groups including active seniors and involves short walks and rest days over a 17 day period. We now include Everest Base Camp on this tour.

Acclimatizing is essential as we reach 4,750 metres at Gokyo and optional day tours take us to 5485 metres. We stay several nights in Namche Bazaar and visit Tangboche Monastry. Tours are run in May and October when the weather is most reliable and the alpine meadows are carpeted in wildflowers. We usually see wildlife including huge eagles, deer, pheasants and Thar.
